Iquitos, Peru, Jan. 11, 2007 - Johnny Basadre Pastor, 10, upper right, holds his sister, Nevia Basadre Pastor, 6 months, while his younger brother, Cesar 'Charlie' Basadre Pastor, fixes her socks on their porch in Belen, a small poverty-stricken area built along the flats of the Amazon River. Home to over 100,000 residents, the community is comprised of homes built on stilts or of floating balsa wood.  The children were all just came from a swim in the Amazon to beat the summer heat. As eldest child, Johnny is responsible for helping with his siblings while his father is out fishing and his mother works in the market.
