Ventura, California, July 21, 2010 - Gary Seymour refills his pipe with tobacco while taking a break from walking his dog, Buddy, in Mission Park. He says he likes to come to the park in the evening to visit with friends and let Buddy play. Mr. Seymour has been homeless off and on for the last thirty years. He currently lives in a camper parked left to him by his father that is parked in the driveway of a friend's mother. Because it is an illegal camp, Mr. Seymour is considered homeless. He says, "I work odd jobs, landscaping and whatnot to make a little money. I am trying to get back on my feet." Mr. Seymour is proud that he does not panhandle. "I earn my own living without asking people for handouts." .
